Hey folks,
I made it through 2 out of 3 weeks on an orthopaedic unit. Looking forward to going to the Birth Place, but hey... I'm living nursing. It took me a few days this week, after passing my NCLEX and having a 3-day weekend, to settle in on the floor. It was chaos. 2 new post-ops on Tuesday just threw me for a loop, especially when one was immunosuppressed and had a fever for 24+ hours. Change the pain meds around, get blood/urine/sputum cultures...
I've been working with all the staff, starting to delegate with the PCAs, asking the docs/residents/interns to do things that need to be done...
I was told by my preceptor that I'm the most anal in my group of 5 orientees...Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Heh. But hey, I don't want to waste her or my time going through tons of meds in a mish-mash order. It makes both of our jobs easier. Does that sound anal?
I've been enjoying the last few afternoons in the pool out back. It feels great to weightlessly stretch my legs after miles walked at work.
Mark and I are BOTH done with our Boston Legal DVDs...this morning I watched the extras and then headed out for the farmer's market down the block with dear friend X. The Troy Waterfront Farmers' Market is fantastic. I've been trying to get all my veggies and some of my meats there. Forgot eggs this morning! But it did start pouring, so after seeking shelter under the Old Chatam Sheepherding Co. pop-up, I grabbed one of these fantastic mild camenbert cheeses
Yum. Can't wait.
Today, Saturday, is well-come. Even dark and rainy as it is.
