Long Absences from Blogging in Summer

| | | | | | |

I have been avoiding posting lately because such big things are happening in our lives that it feels strange to post about them...and we wanted to wait for a little while to announce to the world that we're "expecting," "having a baby," and "knocked up"!

Part One: Our First is on its Way

So, we're twelve weeks pregnant and publicly announcing it (hah!). Woooohooooeeee! I have a cousin who is expecting her (fifth!) child two weeks after me, and we found out today that our friends from Denver, CO are expecting their third in just two months! Wow! The world is popping out all over! We're bringing life into the world.

Anyway, with that news out of the closet...

Part 2: The Unrally

Mark and I organized the UnRally VI in West Virginia from Sept 4-6 of this year, which went off without a hitch (um...so next time, we'd purchase some extra t-shirts for all those unexpected arrivals!), and was a great and wonderful time...We saw old friends and met new ones, enjoyed the weather, saw the awesome New River Gorge Bridge, and I even got a day on the back of the bike on some great mountain roads! (last chance at riding - my belly popped by the end of the week - I don't think I'll be on the road for a long time).

Part 3: Home Again

We got home and were right back into work, work, and more work. But this weekend we finally got out and had breakfast with my mother-in-law, wandered around our new L.L.Bean store on opening weekend, and finally put together our wine/liquor cabinet that was a fantastic wedding gift from several friends...never mind that I won't be having a drink for months! We've also managed to fill the fridge again...it's full of snacky pregnant-friendly food. Seriously, pickles and chocolate pudding are some of my favorite foods right now!

After a busy day around the house (finally!) we're relaxing. Mark's currently settled down on his third or fourth day of reading the final Harry Potter book, and he's going to finish it tonight. I'm sitting here on the floor posting in our living room, and he's sitting on the couch exclaiming every few minutes!! He hasn't told me anything, but I'll soon be reading it myself since he's only got 120 pages left.

We'll have (just a few) new projects going here as we're taking over the apartments from my father-in-law. That's currently in the works.

For right now, we'll be staying here in our wonderful cozy apartment and making some room for the baby - the second bedroom will lose it's huge, unused desk and get a much smaller one in its place, along with a crib and other baby necessities.

The pool has already been closed for the fall. It was used plenty in the hottest weeks of the summer...and then it cooled off quickly and wasn't used the last month at all. FIL is buttoning down the apartments - insulating the windows, checking the furnaces, etc...

I'm changing my work schedule so starting next month I'll have two twelve-hour and two eight-hour shifts a week, eliminating my three twelve-hour shifts in a row, hurrah!

Life just keeps rocking on. Back sooner,
Sylva

:)

Congratulations, honey! Huge hugs to you and Mark.
