It's Raining, the Beach is Off

|

So it's really been coming down this morning, and if Shaunda or I had looked at the weather forecast we would have known our Grafton Lakes Beach plans were silly...

Fast forward to this morning, we're headed to the The Children's Museum of Science and Technology up in Rensselaer Tech Park.

Hope you're all enjoying this rainy day.

February Update

Hello Again!

It's been a long time. I am very pregnant now...33 weeks and counting...and a friend read my blog tonight and found out we're having a baby - surprise! (whoops!)

Life has been quite busy - I was sick for a month in December (did you get that nasty virus too?!), have finally gone to part-time this month, and we are getting ready for baby. I just set up a flickr selection for belly photos. It seems that even going to part-time, my days are just as full as if I were working 5 days a week...I'm getting to run all the errands and do things I haven't been able to do while working full-time...and I'm just as tired.

Long Absences from Blogging in Summer

| | | | | | |

I have been avoiding posting lately because such big things are happening in our lives that it feels strange to post about them...and we wanted to wait for a little while to announce to the world that we're "expecting," "having a baby," and "knocked up"!

Part One: Our First is on its Way

So, we're twelve weeks pregnant and publicly announcing it (hah!). Woooohooooeeee! I have a cousin who is expecting her (fifth!) child two weeks after me, and we found out today that our friends from Denver, CO are expecting their third in just two months! Wow! The world is popping out all over! We're bringing life into the world.

Pool Days

| |

Tuesday was my first of a two-days-off stint (finally!), and planned with my friend M and her son J to have an afternoon pool party. The weather was gorgeous, and we headed outside to sit under the maple tree in the backyard and play with a beach ball in the pool. J is a little over a year, I think 13 months, and it was VERY fun.

We had tons of snacks and munchies, and the three cats who live in the backyard were entranced.

Mark was outside on a business call, weeding the edges of the yard, and then Al, my father-in-law came outside to chat for a while. Then, suddenly, Al my brother-in-law showed up from the back alley. Unbeknownst to me, he'd been working on my Seca II, the motorcycle that showed up back in the family - it was owned by my FIL, then my BIL, then bought by our friend Ben (who then bought a BMW), and after being garaged for 18 months was returned to the family in non-running condition. FIL spent the winter fixing it up, but ran into some issues...and now BIL is working on it.

The Pool is Open!

|

After a delicious weekend of Albany Cookout dancing, with Viv and Chandra staying with us, getting to dance with some delicious yummy leads from all over...

We opened the pool! Now...it's not glamorous right now, being slightly green, but in a day or two with the filter, plus the chlorine doing its job, it'll be perfect. I was inspired by a conversation with M and another friend from work. We were talking about finding a pool for the summer, and silly me nearly forgot that we had one in the backyard. I suddenly remembered, and realized we could have a lot of fun with it now that I have friends with kids!

Blogging as Contact

I guess I have readers out here, it's been a few people now who say - "Update your blog more! I want to know what is going on in your life!"

Wellll...My iPhone rocks.

My brother Tim is moving today - he got back from his Europe trip, AND his Seattle trip (the last was backpacking, part done with our mom, Lui, and the rest independently.

We had a "brothers" dinner last night - I picked up Tim on my way home from work, and drove up to find Mark and HIS brother, Al, hanging out on the front stoop comparing...you got it...new phones. Al has been avoiding the iPhone, so he has bought and returned one Blackberry, and just got another one. Hmn...Mark and I have a bet going. So - dinner at the pub, the two of us with our brothers. It was a very enjoyable evening, we hung out, talked about phones, talked about Tim's new job in CT at FactSet as a Security Engineer. The pale ale was the beer of the day, yum!

Coincidences?

Tonight on my way out of work i passed by the club Valentine's on New Scotland Ave. So not my thing, but anyway. There were TONS of punk-rocker guys in black and chains and MANY, many MANY with mohawks. I don't know why, but this makes me think of my friend Jeri, who got married the first Sat this month. I call her up and leave a message as I see MORE guys with mohawks walking towards Valentine's:

"Hey Jeri, haven't seen you in a while, i know you got married a few weeks ago, how is everything, I thought of you as I passed valentine's on my way home seeing all the punk rockers with their mohawks, I know you're into the music scene and everything and might know what's going on :D :D"
